Brett, Louise, Adam, Vanessa, Bob and Tracey participated in the Cairns Hang gliding Club Chillagoe weekend;
Spent some time recently scouting for an old/new site around the tablelands. Ian Graham has flown to Petford from this site near Tolga. SE facing site, relatively easy (4WD) access, and a long ridge to work. Adam has designs on a transportable ramp that will make launch easier.
Keep an ear out for flying here on a weekend when the weather comes good!
Adam and Bob also spent some time recently on the club pay-out winch, putting on new rope and nutting out how it works.
Thanks to Jarvis for this great video of flying in PNG.Look out for the volcano!
Ron Flying the Rex
The CHGC Christmas party was a great success, with around 20 people gathering at the beautiful Ellis beach yacht club boat house for an evening of food, drink and merriment. Also announced on the night ,the results of the club championship….
Congratulations to Paul Stuart, our 2012 club champion!!
Winning both days of the Rex comp, in exactly the same time each day!
Not only that, 2nd placed Ron, also clocked exactly the same time both days!!
It has been a very successful year for the club, with great comps, many trips away and lots and lots of spectacular FNQ flying. Bring on next year!!
At the last meeting, it was decided that everyone needed, that’s right NEEDED another Cooktown weekend. You’ve watched the videos,

you’ve heard the other pilots raving, now experience Cooktown yourself!
The weekend of November 24th id the date. Unless it’s chucking it down, we are going. Contact Brett or Bob if you are interested.
A short video of our flight from the Rex lookout to the wall, via south west ridge. A sensational day, Joe Wazza and Bob at the Wall, Ron and Paul at Silky Oaks. Always a bonus to have such a big flight so late in the season. Enjoy!!
Came across this video of the Rex lookout in 1995. Anyone recognise themselves or the gliders?
